Special Operations Forces play a crucial role in modern warfare. The International Special Training Centre (ISTC) in Pfullendorf, Germany provides centralized training for U.S. and NATO Special Forces and similar units in Europe.

Istc Overview

More and more frequently, Special Forces units are employed in multinational operations.


That's why the International Special Training Centre employs an experienced and dedicated group of multinational instructors to ensure that ISTC students learn the advanced skills they need to succeed in a 21st century Special Forces environment.


Soldiers from nine member nations - Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey and the United States - make up the cadre of instructors and students at the ISTC.

ISTC MIssion/Vision

ISTC aims to reduce and share training costs through centralisation of advanced training of Special Forces and similar units and enhance the knowledge of operations by Special Forces and similar units through an intensive exchange of experience.


Mission:

  • Conduct additional and advanced training for Special Forces and similar units.


  • Collect, process and provide information in consideration of multinational military missions useful to nations for further development of:


  • Operational and tactical principles and doctrines


    Concepts, training and equipment for Special Forces and similar units

  • Put experiences made during completed Special Forces operations into training practice

What is JMTC?


Headquartered in Grafenwoehr, Germany, the 7th Army JMTC is the largest training command outside the continental United States. Our vast ranges, simulation centers, classrooms and facilities provide realistic and relevant training to U.S. Army, Joint Service, NATO and allied units and leaders.
